John Hancorn : choruses from Handel’s Samson and Saul

Booking is now open for a workshop on Sunday 4 October for singers and instruments, in Headcorn Village Hall. The tutor will be John Hancorn, who has taken several workshops for us before. This time the music will be choruses from Handel’s Samson and Saul.
The workshop is open to SATB singers and the instruments below. Pitch is 440.
Strings – violins, violas, cellos, double bass,
Violin familyplayers do not need to have a baroque instrument.
Tenor and bass viols also accepted to play the viola and bass parts
Wind and brass – 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 bassoons (which can play cello parts in Samson), 2 trumpets, 3 trombones. Samson also has parts for two horns, but they are only in the overture and two choruses.
Brass players – it would be helpful if you could be prepared to sing part of the time or play another instrument so that you have enough to do.
Copies of vocal scores and parts will be available on the day.
